Exhibition dates: March 6 - May 31, 2009Fabio Fernandez and Tom Lauerman will be exhibiting work made in collaboration over the past year at the Provincetown Art Museum. This grouping of roughly 100 small scale sculptures in clay and wood are influenced by architectural structures and sites. The title of the show "Sculptures in Love with Architecture" referencea a sketchbook (Architectures In Love) by Architect John Hejduk.
For the tenth year, Clark County Parks and Recreation will host the “3-D Invitational” exhibit, beginning Feb. 2, at the Clark County Government Center Rotunda Gallery, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. The group exhibition features original three-dimensional pieces created for the show by artists Keith Conley, Curtis Fairman, Emily Kennerk and Brent Sommerhauser. Receptions for the artists will take place during First Friday events from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 6 and March 6. The exhibit continues at the gallery through March 20. Attendees can park at the Government Center, view the exhibit and then take a free shuttle to other First Friday venues.
The four artists selected are all strongly compelled by form and played that out in these works made specifically for this show in an array of materials. The result is a collection of work that at first glance is playful but ultimately reveals the darker mood of the moment we all find ourselves in.
Keith Conley is an associate professor at the College of Southern Nevada, where he teaches sculpture. He will be in residence as part of the Goldwell Residency Program in 2009. Curtis Fairman’s work was recently included in “Las Vegas Diaspora,” an exhibit curated by Dave Hickey at the Las Vegas Art Museum. The exhibit also traveled to the Laguna Art Museum. Emily Kennerk is a recent arrival to the valley and is an associate professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she teaches sculpture. The Indianapolis Museum of Art presented a solo exhibit of her work in 2007. Brent Sommerhauser has exhibited nationally and internationally and is a member of Telegraph, an exciting artist collective. Since becoming a resident of Nevada his work has been recognized by the Nevada Arts Council with two Artist Fellowship honorable mention awards and a Jackpot Grant.

Tom Lauerman, along with Shannon Goff took part in a 5 week residency at the Clayarch Gimhae Museum in South Korea. Ten artists took part in the residency which culminated in the current exhibition "Re-Defining Architectural Ceramics".
"Table describing itself" is included in the Contemporary Arts Collective 19th Annual Juried Show, juried by Marjorie Vecchio - Director, Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery, University of Reno.
This exhibition will run March 14 - April 26 2008, with a reception Thursday April 3, 2008 6-10pm
